Counselling

We can offer subsidised counselling by referring you to any of our listed qualified counsellors. In order to access this, you would have to speak with our support workers and be a client of one of our services.

Court & Professional Accompaniment

The legal system and court process can be a daunting prospect for anyone. We can help guide you on your rights and legal options.

This can include:

  • Pre-court preparation including paperwork, applying for legal orders and understanding the court system.
  • We can provide advocacy to appointments with Gardai, Solicitors, Social Workers and Legal Personnel.
  • We can accompany you to court to guide you on the day, with the permission of the court.
  • We will help you with the next steps after court.
  • We can offer accompaniment to appointments with Community Welfare, Housing, child protection case conferences and to other agencies.

Crisis Helpline

West Cork Beacon operates 2 freephone helpline’s to speak directly with a support worker.

Our Domestic Violence helpline is available Monday to Friday 9am to 4.30pm and is available to women in need of assistance. 1800 203 136

Our Sexual Violence helpline is available Monday to Wednesday 10am to 4pm and is available to both women & men over the age of 14. 1800 832 001

This service offers:

  • Practical and emotional support to those who have or are experiencing physical, emotional, sexual and/ or financial abuse.
  • Advice and assistance on legal, housing, social welfare, rights and entitlements, budgeting.
  • Information, advocacy, counselling and referral to appropriate services.

Children & Young People

This scheme, called CYP, provides external therapeutic support to children & young people up to 18 years of age who have lived or are living with the impact of domestic abuse in their household/family.

Children will be eligible for the program with the agreement of and support of their mother. Children of existing clients will be prioritised.

Family Members & Friends

We know how difficult it is to be aware that someone you love and care about is the victim of domestic or sexual abuse.

The most important thing to remember is that what is happening to them is traumatising and confusing for them, they will only be able to move at their own pace - not yours.

They need to know that they will not be judged or blamed for what has happened to them. We can help offer guidance to family & friends in supporting them through the process.

Housing

You have the right to live in safety and to feel secure in your own home. West Cork Beacon provide you with support and information on housing options. We can also help with referrals to agencies related to housing on your behalf.

1-to-1 Support

We offer a one to one, safe, confidential space for clients where they can talk and work through their difficulties with trained staff. We offer:

  • Practical and emotional support to people who have experienced or are experiencing physical, emotional, sexual and/ or financial abuse.
  • Advice and assistance on legal, housing, social welfare, rights and entitlements, budgeting.
  • Information, advocacy and referral to appropriate services.

Financial

Many women experiencing domestic abuse believe or have been told by the perpetrator that they have no options or alternatives. This simply isn’t true. There are a number of things that you are entitled to, including a basic income for yourself and your children.

Sexual Violence

West Cork Beacon offers a range of supports to anyone (men and women) over the age of 14 who have experience sexual violence in childhood, sexual assault, rape or any other form of sexual violence.
