Who can use our service?

Domestic Violence

Any woman who is:

  • Over 18 years of age
  • Living/based in West Cork
  • In need of support around the issue of domestic violence and abuse
  • Anyone who is worried about somebody they know who may be experiencing domestic abuse
  • Specialised support available for professionals

Sexual Violence

Anyone (men & women) who is:

  • Over 14 years of age
  • Living/based in West Cork
  • Who has experienced sexual violence in childhood, sexual assault, rape or any other form of sexual violence
  • Who is a supporter of a survivor and is looking for information and advice - friends, family members, partners
    and practitioners

What support will I receive?

Here at West Cork Beacon we will provide you with short-term, trauma informed, support and advocacy.

This includes:

  • Providing space and time for you to discuss what is happening to you
  • Supporting you to identify your priorities, needs and options
  • Providing you with practical support, information and
    advocacy around your financial, housing and legal needs
  • Referring you to other beneficial supports services if required
  • Providing you with general and court accompaniment, with transport assistance when possible
  • Providing you with access to subsidised counselling

Who will I speak with/meet?

Our helplines are managed by our West Cork Beacon Support Workers. All Support Workers are professional, understanding and experienced in managing situations like yours.

If arranging an in-person meeting, you will meet a Support Worker in our main Bantry office or our Clonakilty outreach.

If you cannot attend any of these locations, we can arrange another safe location to meet where suitable. We cannot meet you in your home.
